You can use it as a birdbath and just sprinkle your bird seed on the ground below it, or take the round plastic bath part out and use it as a feeder. I use it as a feeder and hang it near my real bird bath and it is a great way to attract birds.

Very disappointing. They are small enough to fit inside the wire caging and will sit there and eat for hours. Yes it keeps the big gray squirrels from getting the bird seed. Wired it shut and they still climb on it and shake seed out.
