One did well for the last 1/2 of the winter that I bought it for. Used it all winter and the water didn't freeze. Used in a 5 gallon chicken waterer and worked good throughout winter.

Bought this 18 months ago - both of them are cracked on the bottom from icing over and cattle rubbing on them. Today the tank has another crack that drained the tank overnight. I can see why now

Using this heater takes a long time to heat 5 gallons of water to 150F, so I'll still use propane. Don't expect it to bring the 5 ga pail to boiling temperature though, it's not designed for that.
