Definitely not a deal breaker. Small squirrels climbed the pole right up through the slinky and came out the top stretched out part. Bigger squirrels jut kept pulling it down and climbed it like a ladder.

Works like it's supposed to! Well made and works GREAT! Does a very good job of keeping the squirrels out of the bird feeders. Squirrels still try to get a smorgasbord, but they just can't hang on to that slippery baffle.
