Our plants handled the Phoenix heat very well and didn?t require a lot of water, which is actually not surprising when you consider that the sunflower is indigenous to the Southwest deserts and mountains of New Mexico, Arizona and northern Mexico.
- Foliage: Deep green, ivy shaped, symmetrically paired, up to 8 inches across.
- Spacing: 2-3 feet
- Flowers: Non-branching, single stem, one large blossom on top. Large, 12-24 inches in diameter. Protruding center dome, surrounded by old-fashioned, wavy, wide petals of up to six inches in length.
- Sun: Full sun, minimum 4 hours
- Propagation / Germination: Plant 1 inch deep, water well, keep soil moist, sprouts should emerge within 10-15 days.
