Yes it keeps the big gray squirrels from getting the bird seed. Very disappointing. Not sure how but they did. Wired it shut and they still climb on it and shake seed out. Unfortunately the squirrels got the lid off.

Not squirrel-proof. The doors that come down to shut off access when a squirrel stands on the perch are PLASTIC and the squirrels just chew through them and can the eat as much as they want.
